That story doesn't mention that originally when I said the offer was good only for 2 days, Nicky said he wasn't interested in the boat. He thought it foolish to make a decision to spend $4,000 without more time to ponder. Then later he call called me back and said, "We're in!"
When Nicky first saw the boat, in his best doggy voice, he said, "Ruff." And to be sure, she was rough beyond expectation. After the 1,100 mile ride I apologetically agreed, not sure if this was actually going to pan out. But after giving the boat the once over, Nicky accepted the challenge and decided to bring her home.
If the flawless 2,200 mile round trip was any indication of things to come, this boat would end up being a real jewel.
My part in this project was regular --- no less than one call a week over the 1 1/2 year restoration. but I was mostly only a sounding board due to my experience getting Big Duck water ready. More on that here.
